Edinburgh {Day 1}
3:45 PM
We woke up today without setting our alarms for the first time on this trip. There was nothing really urgent to get up for and we both wanted to get some rest, so we slept in until about 9 o'clock and then decided to make our way into the city. Since the apartment we are staying at is only about a mile and a half from Princess Street, we decided just to walk instead of using public transportation.
Once there, we shopped a while and looked around. And there are bag pipers playing all over, super cool to see and hear as you are walking around! The views are incredible, it seriously looks like every building is a castle. We stopped for lunch and continued shopping after that. This is the first place that has had really fun and good shopping, so we both managed to find a few things!
After this we decided we wanted to go to the Edinburgh Castle, but for some reason the maps on Apple Maps took us literally in circles and after being down the same road multiple times, we decided to give up haha. We are going to go there tomorrow because we think that the entrance it was trying to take us through a park is closed so we will try to go from the other direction and see if that works. (I didn't realize how hilly Edinburgh was. Even just to walk to Princess Street from where we are was a treck!! But the mountains are beautiful so that makes up for it! ;) ) We really don't have anything planned besides that and possibly going to Arthur's Seat to watch the sunset.
On Sunday, we booked a trip around the whole country of Scotland. I think there's around 8 or so stops where we will see all of the major places here including Loch Ness and the Highlands. It's a 12 hour day trip, so it will be a long last day but I'm super excited for it. This might be my favorite place we have been (it's hard to say because they really have all been unique in different ways) but I am excited to be able to see more than just one city while we are here.
