Amsterdam {Day 2}

2:30 PM

We started the morning off by heading into Amsterdam Centraal which is the main train/tram/transportation hub right in the city. We wanted to find a open boat canal tour and found a super cool open boat for 20 euros. After killing sometime walking around before there were spots available on the tour, we boarded the boat and ordered some wine.

The canal tour was amazing. It was a 75 minute tour all around the different canals and our boat driver/guide was really good at telling stories and history about the city, the canals and the architecture. It was very interesting and we both had an awesome time, plus it was absolutely beautiful. The weather here was very warm today (85 degrees/90 with heat index which is the hottest day so far) so we both ended up with a little lot of sun. I'll remember the sunscreen next time for sure.

After this we made our way by railcar (public transportation here is SO much easier to navigate than Dublin or Berlin) to a top rated restaurant in the city called 'The Happy Bull' where we both ordered burgers which is what they are known for. And it was well worth it, the burgers were so good.

Then, we decided to make our way back to our place and see if we could explore the shops around here. But they're all closed on Sunday, so decided to go to the grocery store to pick up some more water and a pizza for dinner. We came back and cooked that and are now relaxing at our apartment. The weather has cooled off a ton so it is nice to enjoy that with our balcony!

Tomorrow we have a reservation for a tour at the Anne Frank House so we plan to do that as well as go to the Red Light District. We saw this on our canal tour but want to walk through it and maybe stop at one of the famous cafes (not 'coffee shops' (thanks to our tour guide for teaching us this lol) like actual coffee... mom, don't worry ;) ).

I have been so impressed with Amsterdam, it is just so pretty everywhere you go, definitely my favorite city so far. But we really didn't have much of a chance to explore Dublin (besides searching for Guinness) so I am interested to see how it compares once I go back with my study abroad group.
