Berlin {Day 1}

12:50 PM

What a busy past few days! Yesterday we flew out from Dublin around 7am and arrive in Berlin, Germany around 10:15 local time. After going through customs and getting our luggage, we decided to stop at a restaurant just outside the airport for some lunch. Little did we know we wouldn't be able to decipher most of the menu (haha), we ended up eating some fries and then made our way to our airbnb. It is a beautiful flat just outside of the city center and very easy to get through by public transportation. It did take us a while to figure out where we needed to be because all of the signs are in German but we shortly figured that out by watching other people.

After arriving at our flat, we decided to try to catch up on sleep and go explore right around our place so that we could have a full day planned for the today. It really was a good idea because we both managed to get some sleep and are now mostly on track with the time change. We went to the grocery store which was another adventure because all of the packaging is in German, very few name brand things we could understand so we relied on google translate and pictures. Some things wouldn't even translate to anything so we strategically choose what we would make for our lunches for the next few days. :) After grocery shopping, we came back to our flat to make some dinner and prepare our plans for the next day.

While it definitely was a chill day, we were able to catch up, get some sleep and be fully prepared to take on Berlin.

  2. The language barrier is a big one, but you will pick up on it enough to survive...at least most of the food has pics so you know what you are getting at the market !!!
